Dunia Borga was born in Bogota, Colombia to a Yugoslavian father and a Colombian mother. She arrived in the US in 1974 and settled in Malibu California where she found a special love for the ocean and surfing.
In 1993 she moved to New York where she developed her passion for pastry making. In 1997 She came to Dallas, married and started her pastry studies at El Centro’s Culinary Program. In 2001 she cofounded La DUNI Latin cafe, it was then recognized as one of the “Top 20 new Restaurants in the US” by Esquire Magazine. In December 2003 the hospitality community of Dallas named Dunia “Best Pastry Chef “ in D Magazine.
Only the best and natural ingredients are used in the handcrafting of La DUNI cakes, baked goods, cookies, and confections.
Artisan and traditional methods used by our pastry team and all the love from “Mami Duni” are what makes the memories so sweet and everlasting.
